If you love having healthy and beautiful teeth as much as we do, you’ll be happy to know that February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. At The Best Braces, we work hard to provide people of all ages with orthodontic care that will improve both the look and function of their teeth. Good dental health begins at an early age, and if you have children at home or care for children, we have some fun tips on how to teach them the importance of taking care of their dental health, (and we think adults can always use a refresher on the subject, too!).
Children accept new information better if it’s delivered in a fun, kid-friendly way. So why not make brushing their teeth a fun family activity? Sing songs, use one of the many colorful toothpastes on the market, and create a sticker chart so they can track their progress. We’ve also found that if you brush your teeth alongside your child, they get the added benefit of seeing you model good dental health habits.
Kids are also encouraged by taking ownership of their behavior. When they get to pick their own toothbrush or choose which sticker to put on their chart, they can feel good about themselves while taking care of their teeth.
Setting up children for a lifetime of good dental hygiene habits doesn’t have to be hard! We are happy to provide you with more useful tips.
