Which Treatment Would You Choose?
We are happy to treat patients of all ages in our practice. We want to help children, teens, and adults have straight teeth and a perfect smile. We are proud to offer a variety of orthodontic treatment options to our patients and will help them choose the one that best fits their needs and lifestyle. Two of the most common treatment options we offer are traditional metal braces and clear aligners. Read on to learn more about the differences between these two excellent options.
The Difference Between Traditional Metal Braces and Clear Aligners
We offer multiple orthodontic treatment options to our patients, and the two most common choices are traditional metal braces and clear aligners. Both options can fix the placement and straighten teeth, but one option may be better for you than the other. Here are some features of each option:
Traditional Metal Braces
When you think of orthodontic treatment, traditional metal braces probably come to mind first. This treatment option uses metal brackets and wires to move your teeth into the correct position. Metal braces can repair any bite or orthodontic issue. This treatment works for everyone but is ideal for our younger patients. The biggest drawback to this treatment option is that braces can be viewed as unsightly. Patients also need to be extremely mindful of what they eat and have to be sure they are cleaning their braces correctly to avoid decay.
Clear Aligners
Many of our adult patients are fond of this treatment. If you are unfamiliar, clear aligners are a series of trays that you wear in your mouth to slowly transition your teeth into the desired placement. Our clear aligners can be created the same day as your appointment, so treatment can start immediately. Patients love that they have no food restrictions because the trays are removable. The teeth can also be cleaned as usual. The biggest drawback to this treatment is that it will not be successful if you do not wear the trays for an adequate amount of time. It is also easy to lose or accidentally throw out the trays.
