We want to share some helpful items to pack and tips to ensure you have a vacation free from worrying about your orthodontic care. Read on to learn more.
Travel and Orthodontic Care
While receiving orthodontic care, it takes some extra planning and packing before heading out on a trip or vacation. It’s important to be diligent and overprepared in case of an emergency with your braces or other orthodontic hardware. This is especially important if you are traveling to a location where stores and items may be hard to find.
Packing List
Here is a list of items it is important to pack on your next vacation or trip:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Dental floss
- Additional cleaning tools such as an interdental brush
- Orthodontic wax
- Mouthwash
- A small mirror
- Elastics (if needed)
- Extra clear aligner trays (if needed)
- Retainers and case (if needed)
Helpful Tips
Keep Your Supplies With You
If you are traveling by air, we recommend packing your orthodontic items in your carry-on. Unfortunately, airlines aren’t always the most reliable with checked luggage, and we would hate for your supplies to become lost. This is especially important if you wear clear aligners and need to replace your trays.
Eat Food You Know
While it might be tempting to try new types of food when you are traveling, that might not be a wise decision. We know part of traveling is enjoying different cuisines, but be sure to continue choosing braces-friendly options. We would hate for you to experience an emergency while you are away from the office.
