A Clear Alternative to Traditional Braces

A Clear Alternative to Traditional Braces - Blog - The Best Braces - Krivichkin-Blog-February-2019

Do you need braces? But, you don’t like the appearance of traditional metal braces. Many people avoid getting braces for the same reason. In the past 20 years, many breakthroughs have happened in the world of orthodontics. One of the newest developments is clear braces.

The braces are the same shape as traditional braces, but they are less visible. They blend in with the natural coloring of your teeth, so they’re barely noticeable. At The Best Braces, we offer a more transparent solution to traditional braces.

Benefits of Clear Braces

Clear Appearance — Clear braces are made with a clear ceramic that is strong and nonporous. Once the brackets are bonded to your teeth, they become hard to see. Also, you can even get wires that are frosted or clear to make them barely visible.

Smaller Size — The clear ceramic brackets are smaller than the traditional silver brackets. The brackets are just as strong as their traditional counterparts, but they take up less space and are more comfortable. You also don’t have to worry about being scratched by metal, and you won’t need to use dental wax.

Easy on Teeth — The bonding agent used to bond clear braces doesn’t cause damage to your tooth enamel. But, the adhesive is strong enough to last throughout treatment. Also, there is no need to worry about discoloration from the bonding adhesive.

Choosing clear braces instead of traditional metallic braces has many benefits. However, you will need to use proper care and cleaning to avoid staining. Foods such as coffee, tea, colored fruits, and drinks should be avoided or used in moderation to ensure that permanent staining does not develop.

Also, treatment with clear braces may take longer than traditional metallic braces because it will require more modifications. Less pressure is applied to clear ceramic braces, and your teeth move slower as a result.

Clear braces are great for those who want a less visible option than traditional metallic braces. To find out if clear braces are right for you, contact our office to schedule an appointment. We serve patients in Southfield, Michigan, and the surrounding areas.
